I'm Irina.
Nice to meet you.
Irina Otmakhova — Childbirth Doula and Hypno-Doula based in Manila, supporting women in English, Russian, Dutch and Spanish.
A closer look at who I am, what I believe in, and the training that shapes the care I offer.
I’m a Childbirth Doula and Hypno-Doula who has worked in women’s health and human rights for nearly a decade. My own birth experience showed me what it really takes to achieve an all-natural, unmedicated birth where a mother’s choices are honored and respected, and that experience is what called me into doula work.
Together, we move through fear with curiosity, soften self-doubt, and build the steady confidence your body and baby deserve.
In 2013 I began accompanying families through childbirth at homes, birthing centers, and hospitals. I completed my hands-on training at Shiphrah Birthing Home in Taytay, Rizal, where I witnessed countless women give birth with ease and in their own power.
To date, I’ve attended over 500 births. That experience has given me nuanced understanding and a steady instinct for the many ways each birth can unfold.
My role is to help mothers move through fear, trust their bodies, and build the calm confidence that turns labor from something to survive into something they actually want to remember.

My doula philosophy.

I believe women’s bodies are designed to conceive, nurture, and give birth, especially when women are supported, educated, and encouraged to trust their own power.
I believe every pregnant woman has the right to bodily integrity, autonomy, and informed choice in every situation.
I believe medical interventions can be necessary and life-saving when used appropriately, and that most women can give birth naturally and spontaneously when given education, opportunity, and support.
I believe a doula complements the mother’s birth partner, never replaces them.
I believe in the Childbearing Rights of Women.
You set the pace. I walk with you.
Who I work with.
I specialize in supporting mothers who:

Are pregnant for the first time and want a calm, informed guide

Feel anxious about labor or hospital protocols and want to feel in control

Are planning a VBAC or healing birth after a hard first experience

Are choosing home birth or unmedicated birth and want experienced support
I'd be honored to walk this journey with you.
Let's prepare for the birth you actually want.

Training and Certifications
My work is grounded in certified doula training and ongoing learning.
Childbirth Doula Certification
It’s 2 a.m. Your contractions are strong. And the person beside you actually knows what to do next.
That’s the kind of calm a CLD certification with Childbirth International (2013) is built for, a doula trained in evidence, not guesswork.
You shouldn’t have to coach your own birth team. With me, you don’t.
Hypno-Doula Training
Most mothers don’t fear birth. They fear losing themselves inside it. Hypno-Doula tools (Hypnobabies®, 2014) help you soften that fear with breath, focus, and trust, the same way athletes prepare for the big moment.
Layer in waterbirth training with Barbara Harper (2023) and the Art of Birth with Naoli Vinaver (2022–2023), and you get a guide who can meet your birth wherever it wants to go.
Continuing Education
Here’s the thing nobody tells you: birth isn’t the finish line. It’s a doorway.
That’s why I learned Holistic Midwifery Academy in Russia (2019), Sacred Postpartum Mother Roaster (2014), IPPA placenta encapsulation (2015).
So when you cross that doorway, you’re not handed a baby and forgotten. You’re held, fed, and seen, long after the last contraction.
Background & Experience
500+ births. Almost a decade in women’s health and human rights. And one quiet conviction: every mother deserves to be the hero of her own birth story.
My job isn’t to take over. It’s to clear the noise, hold the space, and help you do what your body already knows how to do.
In English. Russian. Dutch. Spanish. Whichever language feels most like home.
I continue to grow — for both of us.
I continue to deepen my practice through ongoing study, including waterbirth with Barbara Harper, the Art of Birth with Naoli Vinaver, and holistic midwifery training in Russia. I can keep showing up with skill, presence, and current, evidence-based care.
Birth work evolves, and I evolve with it.
Thank you for contacting us.We’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
We got it.
Ready to begin?
You don’t have to take the next step alone — reaching out is already part of the work.
